THE RISE OF EMICIDA THE CREATORS PROJECT, 34min (2011) editor
Emicida grew up in the northern area of the city of Sao Paulo. His career as an MC started in 2006, when he registered his first rhymes while participating in numerous freestyle battles.
In 2008, Emicida released his first single: “Triunfo”. One year later, his first mixtape followed: “Pra Quem Já Mordeu um Cachorro por Comida Até que eu Cheguei Longe," cementing his status as one of the leaders of the new generation of Brazilian hip-hop. His pioneering use of DIY distribution, grassroots awareness and social media allowed him to gain unprecedented exposure for a Brazilian artist not signed by a major record company.
In 2010, the rapper released two mixtapes: “Sua Mina Ouve Meu Rep Tamem” and “Emicídio”. In 2013, Emicida will release his first full-length album through his label Laboratório Fantasma.
